Surfing the world as it spins ever faster…

Happy to report great things are happening around the launch of our first book!

We’re getting some good surfing book book reviews in the surf media, we’re lining up our first book tour, and we’re starting work on the next book in the series. Cowabunga everyone!

When Kevin and I first started talking about doing a book series, we weren’t sure how it would all go, how the book would turn out or whether the surf-travel-misadventures would even resonate with the surfing tribe. So it’s with a great sense of satisfaction to give these updates…

SURFING BOOK REVIEWS

Awesome news—we’ve gotten some good ink lately in the media!

“A pinned-throttle globe trot with surfing’s favorite explorers, “Search for the Perfect Wave” is a surf library must-have.”—Scott Hulet, Editor, The Surfer’s Journal

“Kevin Naughton and Craig Peterson headed south on a series of Central American adventures in the early 1970s, driving Volkswagens through mud and over sand, and the articles they published in Surfer magazine inspired countless others to follow.
Now Naughton and Peterson have compiled those original articles—along with many more anecdotes and photos—in the first volume of Search for the Perfect Wave, a gorgeous book that shows life in and out of the water for the two happy-go-lucky misadventurers and their ne’er-do-well buddies.” —Keith Plocek writes about visual art and culture for LA Weekly, ARTnews, Vice and The Village Voice

VOL. 2 – WEST AFRICA

We’re getting started on Volume 2, covering the surf travel trips from Morocco through the Sahara Desert, the jungles of West Africa all the way to the Congo River. We spent nearly two years looking for waves in Africa. Found some good ones, along with a few wild tales to go with ’em.

We saved a lot of cool stuff that we’ll be sharing in the book. We’ve got hand-drawn maps of the coast of the Sahara, diagrams on how we packed our backpacks for months-long hitchhiking journeys, Craig’s condensing his diary entries of his time on the Congo River, plus photos, letters—all kinds of stuff.

If you haven’t already, you might want to follow us on Facebook for more frequent updates.

That’s the latest for now. Hope everyone is making their summer (or winter Down Under) travel plans!

Cheers,

Craig & Kevin
